NBO Housing Award 2024 - The Best Living Environment in the Nordic Countries

Now is the time for all housing organizations to show the world their best living environment and compete for the award – The best living environment in the Nordic countries 2024.

We know that many appreciate the place where they live. Maybe, it is the people, certain activities, the special sense of community and the neighbour care, maybe it is the architecture, the surroundings, and the services, or maybe it is a combination of it all that makes the housing area a great place to live.

We are looking for living environments that the residents value highly and we will select a winner based on the following criteria:

  • To which degree the people, architecture, activities, nature etc. creates a sense of community and belonging

  • To which degree the people, architecture, activities, nature etc. builds sense of safety and well being

Who can compete?

Everyone who are affiliated with one of the eight NBO member organizations, i.e., both the eight NBO organizations and their members can submit projects for the award.

How to compete?

You participate in the competition by submitting a short film of a maximum of 1 minute. The film must convey in sound and pictures what makes your housing area special and valuable by answering the following questions but not necessarily in this order or as a direct interview format:

  • What makes your housing area the best place to live?

  • What makes it special compared to other areas?

  • What is the primary ingredient that makes your  housing area the best place to live (people, architecture, activities, nature , a special spot etc.)?

Award process in short

Submittal

You can submit your film for the best housing area award from April 1 – May 30.

  1. Record and edit a one-minute film according to the film guidelines.

  2. Give your film a title and send it to liv@bl.dk with WeTransfer.

  3. Fill out the award formular with your contact information and the title of the film.

All nominated candidates that makes it through the first cut will be presented at the website.

Nomination

The five Nordic countries will do an initial screening and select a maximum of 21 films representing all countries based on the listed criteria. The Board of NBO evaluates the 21 films and nominates 1 film/housing area from each country – five in all. The five finalists will be announced by the end of August.

 

Selecting the winner

The winner will be selected by the participants at the NBO Conference on September 19 and announced at the event.
